Where did the idea for aswaaq come from?

aswaaq is the realization of a vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.  It was first spoken of during a presentation on UAE government strategy in April 2007, when H.H. Said: "We have solutions that rely mainly on our young people.  aswaaq is based on the latest technological advancements, the need to reduce marginal employment and create investment opportunities for young people."

How is the company structured?
aswaaq is a Limited Liability company, owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for the development of small and medium enterprises.  The supermarket aspect of the business was founded in 2006 and opened its first branch in October 2008.

  • Dakakeen: an authentic market characterized by its traditional designs, offering customers a variety of products and accessories, including gifts, clothes, perfume and shoes.
What is HACCP and why is it important?

HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points system. It is a global system whereby food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product. It also covers all operations of receipt, storage, food preparation, cooking and products displayed on the shelves or delivered to customers.
aswaaq is investing in the field of food safety to protect its customers and provide them with safe consumption, and has gained HACCP accreditation for its branches in Nad Al Hamar, Al Mizhar,  Al Warqaa, Mirdif, Umm Suqeim, Sufouh and Greens (Panorama).
